T. My main intention with this piece is to showcase how the deep sea could be a “garden” sunken ships, sea animal skeletons, and abandoned objects. I drew elements like the leviathan skeleton and the mermaid on the upper left of the composition to provide the “magic” component of the piece. I wanted to showcase the passage of time on the sunken objects through the various coral and seaweed clinging onto the forms as well as the greenish color of the objects themselves.
I decided to stick to using mostly blues and greens for two reasons: 1) It is commonly associated with the ocean and would allow the viewer to easily recognize that this setting is in the sea. 2) It creates a mystical and ethereal tone to the piece.
