This was created as part of the project Siren’s Grasp. It is the final turnaround sheet for one of the main characters, Mira Thorne. Mira’s design is a collaborative effort between Ray Young and Myself. We both developed her design, while I did the final revisions and the turnaround sheet. Our design was created based on the following prompt from our project lead:
Mira is a striking woman with flowing black hair and pale skin. She wears a tattered red gown, reminiscent of the ones she wore during her performances. Her eyes are deep violet, and when she sings, they glow faintly with a haunting light. Around her neck, she wears a silver pendant in the shape of a bird in flight, a gift from a lover long lost to the sea. Despite her curse, Mira carries herself with a quiet dignity and a melancholic grace.
These are the developmental sketches of both Ray and me. I created version 1 of Mira using both elements from Ray and my sketches and then further refined the design with the feedback from my project lead.
