This was created based on the prompt, “Island Opposition”. I interpreted the concept of an “Island” as a place of security and comfort amidst a chaotic world or outside influences (which represented “Opposition”). It portrays a boy enjoying his time reading a book on his own personalized “island” of security and comfort (his tree house). At the same time, his sister calls out to him to go back to their parents, essentially “opposing” his sense of peace- to little success.

To further portray the sense of comfort and safety within the tree house, I used a warmer cooler scheme and contrasted it against the cooler palette of the outside. This creates a clear distinction between the two elements and further “isolates” the treehouse.
